Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump Descaling

Liquid ring vacuum pumps are widely used across various industries, but over time, scale build-up from calcium, lime, dirt, and rust can accumulate inside the pump. This scale can significantly reduce the pump’s efficiency and cause severe damage if left untreated.

What is a Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump?

A liquid ring vacuum pump is a rotating positive displacement machine designed to provide process vacuum in numerous industrial applications. These pumps evacuate or compress gas to atmospheric pressure. A rotating impeller, positioned eccentrically within a cylindrical casing, compresses the gas.

Water or another compatible liquid is introduced into the pump, forming a moving liquid ring against the inside of the casing. This liquid ring creates seals between the impeller vanes, forming compression chambers. As gas enters the pump, the volume within the chambers varies cyclically, driven by the movement of the liquid ring and impeller vanes.
